The Prime Minister has just approved a VND3,700 billion (US$ 174,775) project to upgrade schools and houses for teachers for the new academic school year 2014-2015 and it will continue to 2020.
The project aims to build schools and houses for teachers who work far from their houses. The project will build preschools in disadvantaged districts with 2,627 classrooms and 2,658 houses for teachers in the new academic school year 2014-2015.
By 2020, the project is expected to build more classrooms to replace dilapidated present rooms in kindergartens and primary schools as well as more rooms such as medical rooms, libraries and multi-functioning rooms.
Under project, the government asked the Ministry of Education and Training to liaise with related agencies to review each districts’ demand and call for social contribution. After that, the Ministry will have to send a report to the Prime Minister.
Local governments have also been asked to allocate enough expense for the project. The State budget will fund VND3,700 billion ( US$ 174,775) taken from the standby capital of the government’s bond in the 2012-2015 period.
