The Global ICT Challenge for youth with disabilities in 2017 was initiated by the Health and Social Benefit of South Korea with the participation of Korean Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (KSRPD) and LG Corporation to mark 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and South Korea.
Candidates were divided into four groups comprising of mental illness, deafness, visual impairments and physical disabilities to part take in different challenges in the competition. ETool Challenge was for hearing-impaired candidates, physical and mental disabilities to make Powerpoint presentation while eLifeMap Challenge tested candidates the ability to deal with circumstances through searching information in internet and the difficulty level depended on candidates’ disabilities.
For team work, a group of four people had to complete eDesign Challenge and eCreative Challenge by using soft ware Scratchs.
LG Corporation’s General director Kim Young-lak said that the competition aimed to create opportunities for youth with disabilities to discover their self competence as well as to improve their ability to leverage information and social participation expecting to bring a society without barriers and take heed to disabled people’s right.
