$11 million spent on building Stroke Hospital in Can Tho City

Medical Company Viet Cuong today broke the ground for the Stroke Hospital in the Mekong delta City of Can Tho.

It is scheduled that the hospital will be operated in 2018 with 60 beds and total investment of VND250 billion ($11 million). Representing the company, Dr. Tran Chi Cuong promised to provide treatment for both rich and poor patients and moneyless people.
The hospital will be expanded with a capacity of 200 beds and medical workers’ skills will be improved equal to their peers in the Asian region, Dr. Cuong added.
At present, stroke is popular disease in all people. The disease is one of leading cause of death and disabilities.
Statistically, more than 200,000 people have stroke annually nationwide and around 10,000 people in the Mekong delta a year with high rate of mortality and disability due to limited emergency in hospital.
Even in big hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, 97 percent of stroke patients suffered complications because they were rushed to hospitals late.
The hospital plays an important role in strategy of development of medicine in grassroots clinics bringing more hope for stroke patients who are unable to be transferred to HCMC's hospitals, said Deputy Chairman of Can Tho City people’s Committee Le Van Tam.
