Police in Hai Ba Trung District in Hanoi was investigating two deaths because of shock in the General Hospital Duc Tri at 219 Le Duan Street.
Hanoi Health Department Chief Inspector Do Viet Cuong yesterday said that the department has been reported the information of the incident in Duc Tri hospital. However, police was carrying out investigation, the Inspectorate has not been able to provide any expertise of the case, yet the Department of Health will soon have the announcement.
Police in the district said that it is highly likely that the two patients died from surgical shock during anesthesia. The male patient was diagnosed to have tonsils and was undertaking the surgery while the female patient was undertaking thyroid gland removal.
The hospital said that right after the two patients were discovered to have complication of anesthesia, they were rushed to Bach Mai Hospital for emergency treatment.
However, both of them succumbed to the shock.
At present, the hospital liaises with police and relevant agencies to verify the cause.
Duc Tri General Hospital is a private hospital set up in April, 2007.
