Asia-Pacific Blood Transfusion Conference Opens in Ha Noi

The 18th Asia-Pacific blood transfusion conference opened in Ha Noi yesterday, attracting over 1,000 experts from 30 countries and territories.

 

The conference, the first hosted by Viet Nam, will allow Vietnamese doctors to exchange experiences with foreign colleagues on developing the country’s hematology sector.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan lauded the assistance and cooperation from the World Health Organization, the International Red Cross Organization, the International Society of Blood Transfusion, the World Bank, and many foreign governments to Viet Nam’s health care sector.

He spoke of Viet Nam’s plans to mobilize blood donation, develop blood banks and apply modern technologies in order to ensure blood quality, and intensify international cooperation and personnel training.

The four-day conference will focus on the building and development of a modern blood transfusion service network and the mobilization of resources to work in the service.
