Banned Chinese Lipstick Available in Ha Noi

Two brands of Chinese-made lipstick containing a carcinogenic colorant called Sudan have been discovered in several markets in Ha Noi.

The lipstick from Heng Fang Cosmetics and Shilulan Cosmetics are banned in China because they contain the cancer-causing chemical.

After the news became public, the Vietnamese Drug Administration said the two Chinese companies were not authorized to sell their cosmetics in Viet Nam.

However, the cheap lipstick tubes packaged in nylon were found at several of the city’s big markets priced between US$1 and US$1.60 per tube.

Nguyen Van Thanh, deputy head of the Drug Administration, told Sai Gon Giai Phong his department would investigate the matter.
