Binh Dan hospital performs robotic-assisted surgery for liver cancer

Binh Dan Hospital yesterday announced its doctors performed first robot-assisted surgery on removing left lobe of a 59 year old man to treat liver cancer.

This is the first utilization of robotic –assisted surgery for adults in Vietnam. The 59 year old man from the Mekong delta province of Long An had diagnosed to have tumor in the left lobe of liver a few days ago in annual medical check-up in Binh Dan hospital.
Surgeons performed an operation on July 27 to cut off the left lobe.
The advent of robotics has increased the use of minimally invasive surgery.
One week after the operation, the man could walk and eat normally. and was discharged in healthy condition.
