Central Children hospital succeeds in separating conjoined twin

Le Thanh Hai, director of Hanoi-based Central Children Hospital, July 22 said doctors succeeded in separating a conjoined twin.

The conjoined twin Nguyen Quang Anh and Nguyen Quang Nhat from the northern province of Yen Bai were born four months ago joined at the chest and abdomen and sharing a liver. After they were born, they have been in neonatal intensive care for four months.

The operation was carried out in three hours and the twins are so far in a stable condition.

From 2003 till now, the hospital have separated successfully six conjoined twins.
