Countries Cooperate to Prevent Epidemics

The Vietnamese Ministry of Health presided over the international science conference on preventing and controlling epidemic diseases and strengthening community health in Ha Noi today.

International scientists meet to find a way to prevent epidemics like bird flu

Over 90 scientists from 30 Pasteur Institutes worldwide and 50 Vietnamese health experts attended the conference.
 
Deputy Minister of Health Trinh Quan Huan shared with international scientists Viet Nam’s experience in successfully controlling SARS epidemic and H5N1 type A flu.
 
She said with the cooperation and support of the international community, Viet Nam can completely control epidemics and then eliminate dangerous contagious diseases.
 
Some previous contagious and epidemic diseases which were controlled in the world are reappearing. They are anthrax, rabies, virus-caused encephalitis, cholera, typhoid, polio, rubella, and petechial fever.
 
Over 30 new infectious diseases such as Ebola, HIV/AIDS, bird flu, SARS and mad cow disease have appeared for 20 years.
 
It is very dangerous as all epidemics can break out and sweep the world, influencing the world community seriously.
 
The scientists agreed that global cooperation and connection are indispensable in preventing epidemics.
