Dengue fever infection cases increase

Around 6,116 dengue fever infection cases were hospitalized in Ho Chi Minh City in the first quarter of the year, an increase of 88 percent compared to the same period last year, reported the city Department of Health in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday.

In March only, there have been 250 infection cases a week. One patient in Hoc Mon district died of the disease in February. In addition, more people were taken to hospitals in the city because the peak season of the disease comes later than last year.

In related news, as many as 62 infections of hand-foot-mouth were hospitalized or an average of 60 cases per week, a reduction of 43 percent compared to same period last year. In April,  it is forecast that the infection cases of hand-foot-mouth are on upward trend; accordingly health workers need to pay more supervision of the disease in schools.
