Districts 2, 8, 10, Binh Tan and Go Vap have set up family doctor wards, which are proving popular with more and more patients.

Family doctor wards of Districts 2 and 10 have linked with Medicine University and Pham Ngoc Thach Medicine University to train health workers since October 2012.

Family doctor wards focus on providing preventive healthcare for every resident. They also welcome health insurance holders.

More and more patients are flocking to Family Doctor Wards with 60 people a day in District 2 and 300 people a day in District 10. Dr. Le Thanh Tung, Deputy Chief of the Hospital in District 10, said hospital leaders have to arrange place and personnel for wards there, while the District 2 Hospital works overtime till 7pm to meet increasing demand.

With aim to attract more patients to the wards, hospital leaders of districts 2 and 10 have hired friendly staff and raised treatment quality. Family doctor ward in District 10 Hospital even helps patients in paying fee and taking drugs, whereby creating a warm and helpful environment.

Patients’ electronic medical records have also been often updated which helps physicians in improving treatment quality.
