The Ministry of Health July 29 opened the Viet Nam - Japan Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Center in Bach Mai General Hospital in Hanoi.
Thanks to the help of the Ministry of Economic, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI), the center is the most advanced medical center in North Vietnam. It has state-of-art equipment which can detect cancer cell at the early stage.
Japan has also supported three Vietnamese doctors specializing in gastrointestinal endoscopy and a surgeon to study in the Nagoya University in Japan in two months. Moreover, the university will send doctors and nurses to work in the new center to provide training to Vietnamese medical staffs.
Nguyen Quoc Anh, director of Bach Mai said under the agreement between the hospital and the university, METI had provided US$1 million to equip the center with advanced endoscopy facilities.
