Doctors in Hoan My Sai Gon performed a surgery on a man who was suffering worse cough as his lung has a fishbone. Five years ago, he choked on a fishbone leading to cough in a long time. Though he had been treated in many infirmaries, his cough relapsed.

It was during a chest CT scan that the cause of her symptoms came to light. Visible on the scan was a thin, hard body with a sharp end lodged in the patient's lung. Upon identifying the root cause of the symptoms, they performed a rigid bronchoscopy to examine the exact location of the item and ultimately identified it as a fish bone that had been there for five years.
Dr. Cao Minh Thong who is treating the man said because the fishbone bedded deeply in the bronchial tubes causing pus oozing; accordingly, surgeons couldn’t perform endoscope but open operation to remove the fishbone and cut the damaged lung.
