Hospital honors voluntary kidney donors

The Central Hue Hospital yesterday held a ceremony to honor voluntary kidney donors.

Attending the ceremony were as many as 400 donors and recipients who have undergone successful surgeries.

Mr Phan Xuan Thanh who was given a kidney expressed his gratitude to doctors and donors who saves his life. Thanh reminded the kidney transplantation in 2002 when he was hopeless on his kidney problem because of lacking money.

Professor Bui Duc Phu, the hospital’s director said that the ceremony honored the good hearts of donors who have greatly contributed to saving people with kidney failure.

Dr. Phu said, however, the number of donated organs could not meet demand because thousands of people with kidney failure were waiting for operations.

On the occasion, representatives from the Ministry of Health gave medals to 200 voluntary kidney donors.
