Influenza A cases escalate in Can Tho City

Health authority in the Mekong delta city of Can Tho June 12 said that it sent an urgent dispatch to public medical facilities requesting to increase influenza surveillance.

Deputy Head of the provincial Department of Health Nguyen Trung Nghia said that at present, cases of influenza A (H1N1, H5N1, H7N9) in some localities are on upward trend. Hospitalized cases of the disease also rose and even death.
Accordingly, the health authority ordered medical units to enhance surveillance of the disease.
Beforehand, the Department of Health reported to the Can Tho City People’s Committee about the case of flu A/H1N1 in the General Hospital. The 84-year-old woman in the Mekong delta province of Vinh Long was confirmed to contact with a person infected with flu A/H1N1.
The senior woman was taken to the hospital on June 8 with the diagnosis of blood infection. Afterwards, her health condition improved and she didn’t suffer high fever any more. Her X-ray image showed no infection any longer.
She was still under observation.
