More cases of respiratory diseases increase in Dong Nai Province

Hospitals in the southern province of Dong Nai said that they have admitted more cases of respiratory diseases compared the same period last year.

By statistics conducted by the Children Hospital Dong Nai, since the beginning of the year, 6.3 million cases of respiratory diseases have been hospitalized, an increase of nearly 500 cases compared to same period last year.

Meanwhile, in August only, the hospital’s Respiratory Ward received 390 hospitalized kids, an increase of 80 cases compared to the same period last year moreover, the outpatient suffering breathing disease 76,033 cases, 11,000 cases higher than the same period last year with 65,082.

Head of the Respiratory Ward Dr. Pham Thi Thu Thuy, said that the hospital admits an average of 120-130 cases of respiratory infection meanwhile before the figure was 70-90 cases. Most of patients are kids below two years old having sub-acute bronchitis, pneumonia, and asthma.

In the province’s General Hospital, the number of respiratory patients also escalated. The hospital admits 60 inpatients a daily averagely. Most of patients are elderly people with bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and pneumonia.
