More than 500 workers suffer food poisoning in Tien Giang

More than 500 workers of Wondo Vina Company in Cho Gao District in the Mekong delta province of Tien Giang were rushed for emergency treatment after suffering from food poisoning on October 4.

According to the victims, after having lunch of fried fish, pickles, vegetable soup, and fried fish balls at the company on October 3, many of them developed belly pain, nausea, diarrhea, and headache.

Hundreds workers had same symptoms by next morning when they were at work and were quickly hospitalized.

With such a large number of food poisoning victims at the same time, the Cho Gao District Hospital was full and could no longer receive any more patients, and had to mobilize transfer to Tien Giang Central General Hospital and Hospital K.120.

Dr. Huynh Tho Man, Director of Tien Giang Central General Hospital, said all patients will be given fluid transfusion first and doctors will later apply different treatment on a case-by-case basis.

Medical workers are quick to jump into an investigation of the cause of the poisoning.
