Newborn dies of jaundice in Quang Binh Province

A 5-day-old baby died of jaundice, an ailment which causes yellowish discoloration of the skin and white of the eyes, at the Vietnam-Cuban Hospital in the central province of Quang Binh on Saturday.

Parents of the newborn baby, from Quang Trach District in Quang Binh Province, rushed the child to the hospital, after he showed severe signs of convulsion fits and respiratory problems.

The baby was suffering from jaundice but his parents were unable to detect the ailment earlier until his condition worsened and he had to be rushed to hospital.

Another 6-day-old child is also being treated in the Children’s Ward of the hospital for the same disease. The condition of the child is quite serious and doctors have put her on the drip.
