Staff at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion has pledged to adopt professional ethical standards as per regulations set by the Vietnamese Nurse Association.
The institute has become the first of its kind to adopt such standards in the country.
Nguyen Anh Tri, the institute’s director, said that more than 300 nurses currently working in the institute have signed a pledge to adopt ethical standards while practicing as nurses.
Such a pledge will surely improve nursing standards in the country and provided high quality nursing services which will be beneficial for sick patients and bridge the gap between medical staff, patients and patients’ relatives.
Professional ethical standards include eight standard practices and 30 criteria on behavior and values that measure professional responsibilities and duties of a nurse in looking after sick people.
