One more province of Vietnam faces African swine fever

Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Ninh province Nguyen Van Dai confirmed two outbreaks of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Tam Da commune of Yen Phong district and Dai Xuan commune of Que Vo district.

Bac Ninh is the latest locality reporting the disease and the 18th province of Vietnam suffering the deadly disease.

Previously, the disease has been reportedly appearing in almost of the Northern provinces and cities of Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Hai Phong, Ha Nam, Hai Duong, Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa, Thai Nguyen, Hoa Binh, Ninh Binh, Lang Son, Dien Bien, Son La, Quang Ninh, Bac Kan, Nghe An. 

Thai Binh is the locality having the largest number of destroyed pigs with more than 10,000 ones.

On the same day, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien and Director of Animal Health Department Pham Van Dong led a delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to work with leaders and professional agencies of Bac Ninh province about adopting measures preventing the outbreak, destroying dead pigs, establishing quarantine and disinfection stations based on the recommendations of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE),  the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Ministry Agriculture and Rural Development.
