According to the Blood Donation Steering Board in Ho Chi Minh City under the municipal People’s Committee, over 10,000 residents are ready to give their blood when it is needed.
The board yesterday said of total 242,000 blood units was donated in 2015, more than 97 percent is safe blood. In last year, the Humanity Blood Donation Center received over 210,000 blood units and the Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion received 32,500 blood units.
The number of blood donors in HCMC is leading the country with over 10,000 people who are willing to give their blood when hospitals in the city need blood. Rare blood club has around 156 people who donated 226 blood to treat 30 patients last year.
On the same day, the steering board gave certificates of merit signed by city authorities, 59 medals of the city Red Cross Society and 203 certificates of merits sign by the National Red Cross Society to individuals and organizations that had partaken in the blood donation.
