Red Cross Outlines Projects

The Viet Nam Red Cross held a conference for its partners on Thursday morning to discuss and direct 28 forthcoming projects.

The conference entitled “Team Up to Work for Humanity” was co-organized by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the participation of local officials and led by Vice State President Mrs. Nguyen Thi Doan and representatives of the International Red Cross and other international organizations.
 
Mr. Tran Ngoc Tang, President of Viet Nam Red Cross, highly appreciate the help of international organizations in the recent years. About 80 international projects for humanity have came to Viet Nam since the 2003 with the total donation was VND642 billion (US$40 million), Mr. Tang noted.
 
About VND590 billion (US$36 million) was donated by Red Cross chapters and the rest came from non-government organizations.
 
Twenty-eight projects presented in the conference will be completed by 2015. The projects focus on preventing and coping with both natural and human disasters, health care, social relief and improving the management ability of Red Cross staff.
 
The operators expect to get more donations and help from international sponsors.
