Three deaths from food poisoning in first three months

During the first three months of this year there have been 16 cases of food poisoning across the country, affecting 360 people, 254 of whom had to be rushed to hospitals, with three reported fatalities, announced the Vietnam Food Administration on April 2.

The Vietnam Food Administration under the Ministry of Health also announced that six cases of food poisoning were reported in the month of March alone.

Most of the food poisoning cases were reported from the northern provinces of Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, the central province of Quang Ngai, the central highland province of Gia Lai, and the southern province of Dong Nai.

Three out of six cases were caused by microscopic organism, one from natural toxins (ciguatoxin in red snapper), one from adulterated alcohol, and another from undiagnosed condition, resulting in a total 166 people falling sick and 134 people being hospitalized.
