Twenty-three A/H1N1 cases detected in hospital in HCMC

Deputy Director of Tu Du Maternity Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City Dr. Nguyen Ba My Nhi said that 23 A/H1N1 patients who discovered to contract the diseases on June 1 were treated.

According to Dr. Nhi, one patient in the fifth floor was having high fever while waiting to see doctor on the day. Yet, a few hour later, many patients in the floor had the same symptoms such as high fever, running nose, sore throat.
Twenty- three patients, relatives, and medical workers had the disease symptoms. Soon, the hospital asked their peers in the Tropical Disease Hospital and the Center for Preventive Medicine to liaise and conduct tests. Test results showed that 16/18 samples are positive for A/H1N1 virus – seasonal influenza.
Patients were separated and took Tamiflu tablet. They will be isolated in home if still having fever after they are discharged, said Nhi.
At present, the Center for Preventive Medicine and tu Du hospital continues keeping an eye on these cases. The hospital will disinfect the floor and enhance the disinfection task in all floors.
In addition, all medical workers are asked to wear face mask and wash their hands with soap carefully.
