Two poor visionless men regain eyesight thanks to free corneal transplant

Two poor visually impaired men have regained eyesight after a successful corneal transplant performed by surgeons of Nguyen Trai Hospital thanks to cornea donation of a young man in the southern province of Dong Nai.

25-year - old Kim Da Ra Quit from the Mekong delta province of Tra Vinh and 28 –year-ol  Truong Minh Man in the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau can see again after a successful operation in Ho Chi Minh City-based Nguyen Trai Infirmary.

The two suffer blindness due to corneal diseases. They are in the infirmary's waiting list for transplant for long.

The donor of cornea is a young man in Dong Nai who has fatal disease. He craved to give his corneas to help visionless people to regain eyesight before he died.

Head of Nguyen Trai Infirmary’s High-tech Eye Ward Dr. Tran Thanh Danh said that the hospital, the Eye Bank and the Sponsoring Association for the Poor Patients have so far worked together on gratis corneal transplant to help 57 patients to regain their eyesight.
