Volunteers provide assistance to patients, relatives in hospitals in HCMC

A program on voluntary social work services was September 22 carried out at hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City to provide assistance to patients in the process and procedure of health examination and treatment.

The program was co-organized by the Youth Social Work Center under the city’s Youth Communist Union, its counterparts of the health sector and the Department of Transport. Nearly 200 students were present at Gia Dinh Hosptal in Binh Thanh District in order to provide assistance to patients.

The program is meaningful to help reducing the workload of medical staff in the hospital. Patients and their relatives will be provided guidance on bus routes. For 2 years, the program attracted 225,000 students. The program has been carried out in  the city’s hospitals of Cho Ray, Oncology and Blood Transfusion and Hematology.

According to the organizers, volunteers have also given free-of-charge bus tickets to patients and free drive for patients and their relatives to hospitals.
