The Paris-based La Vie Ouvriere published an article by Nguyen Ai Quoc (an alias of President Ho Chi Minh during his revolutionary activities from 1920 to 1941). The article titled “British colonialists’ policies” criticized imperialist ambitions saying, “They even want to colonize China… Facing the threat of British capitalism, Chinese compatriots will know how to unite to achieve success in the struggle against it”.

In another article titled “Worker movement” Nguyen Ai Quoc analyzed the Chinese worker movement. It read, “Currently, sailors, metal workers, and railway workers are strong forces that capitalists should pay attention to and be afraid of.”
In the article “Japan,” also published in the newspaper, Nguyen Ai Quoc said, “The Chinese worker movement was originally an individual struggle and has now become a class war”.
In China’s National Salvation Daily, Nguyen Ai Quoc wrote the article “Two Versailles governments”, comparing the status of France in 1870 and 1940. During this period, the French had lost wars and the government issued reactionary policies. The article criticized the French government for surrendering to fascists.
Under the pen name C.B, President Ho Chi Minh wrote two stories in Nhan Dan (People) newspaper. The first, titled “Every family takes part in the resistance,” began with a poem:
Set out for battle, my children
Fight against French colonialists to protect the country
After the resistance achieves the final victory
You return to help me farm
He went on to say, “I quoted a mother as saying farewell to her sons. She had six children who all joined the army… The woman is not only the mother of six soldiers but also a mother of all Vietnamese soldiers. She shines as an example for all Vietnamese mothers”.
In another story titled “Resistance spirit of the ethnic minority group of Trai,” the President wrote stories in support of Trai people toward the resistance. The president concluded in the article, “Trai people’s spirit of resistance is invaluable. This is also a feature of our people’s resistance. This certainly proves that Vietnam will win the resistance movement against French imperialists”.
Attending a Politburo’s meeting to analyze the status and plans of the French, the President said, “We must deepen our rival’s internal contradiction…have righteous policies and determination, and an iron will to win the resistance. We must avoid subjective attitudes and not become pessimistic about the enemy’s temporary victories. We must have righteous and sound policies.”
Nhan Dan published the article “Civilization with American style”, in which the President wrote, “However, we do not generalize. Like other peoples, the American people are those who are laborious, just, love peace and protest war…We are determined to fight against American imperialists but we are ready to establish a friendly relationship with the American people in order to struggle together against crimes, and protect justice and peace for all human kind”.
