City authorities celebrate Doctor Day

He commended achievements obtained by Binh Dan Hospital and encouraged medical staff and doctors to continue improvements dealing with overcrowding and harsh conditions.

Mr. Quan praised Eye Hospital for their efforts in treatment for patients from Lao and Cambodia.

He visited Dr. Nguyen Duy Cuong, former Deputy Health Minister, and showed gratitude for his contribution in resident health care.

The chairman burnt incense to commemorate the late Professor Nguyen Thien Thanh, former director of Thong Nhat Hospital.

The Department of Health celebrated the 59th anniversary for the holiday.

Fifty percent of the 30 million patients treated in HCMC last year were from other provinces, said Department of Health Director Nguyen Tan Binh.

The department is determined to ensure that there are 15 doctors and 42 hospital beds for every 10,000 people. The department will implement multiple measures to improve treatment and infrastructure.

President Truong Tan Sang granted a People’s Doctor Reward and 90 Doctor of Merit awards.
