800 expatriates to attend meeting welcoming Lunar New Year

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, a meeting welcoming the Lunar New Year 2019 between overseas Vietnamese is expected to take place in the evening of January 24 (falling on December 19th on the lunar calendar).

The annual meeting aims to express concern of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and authority to overseas Vietnamese visiting their homeland to enjoy Tet holiday. 

Additionally, it contributed to creating exchange and cooperation opportunities for overseas Vietnamese, building development of Ho Chi Minh City and the country.

Attending in the event will be around 800 overseas Vietnamese from countries and territories around the world such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Belgium, Russia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Poland, New Zealand, Slovakia, Italy, Norway, Hong Kong (China), the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan (China), Denmark, etc.

Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People’s Committee, People’s Council and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Ho Chi Minh City will attend the meeting. 

On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee praised and rewarded groups and individuals with their outstanding achievements in 2018. 

There are 19 individuals receiving certificates of merit from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. These are overseas Vietnamese businessmen and intellectuals who have worked well in mobilizing Vietnamese living abroad in the period of 2016-2018.

Of whom, there are five overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the fields of investment, production and business, including Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh (Louis Serrano Nguyen, settling in the Philippines), Deputy General Director of developing the market of Imex Panpacific Group; Mr. Nguyen Phi Long (Phillip Serrano Nguyen, settling in the Philippines), Deputy General Director of business development of Imex Panpacific Group; Mr. Pham Dang Khoa (Mitchell Pham, settling in New Zealand), Director of Augen Vietnam Company Limited; Mr. Dang Tat Thang (residing in Australia), Director of Australia i3 Technology Solutions Company Limited and Ms. Au Thi Thuy Lien (residing in the United States, Member of the Contact Board of Vietnamese overseas in district 9).

They have had great achievements in the field of investment, production, business and social charity works in Ho Chi Minh City as well as the whole country.

Nine overseas Vietnamese intellectuals in the field of education, health and participating in training and teaching are proposed to be awarded certificates of merit from Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, including Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Nhung (Vietnamese residing in Federal Republic of Germany), Scientific collaborator, Eye Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City; Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Nhung has had outstanding achievements in the field of research, training, diagnosis and treatment in term of ophthalmology in Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country; Mr. Dinh Xuan Anh Tuan, Director of Pasquale Paoli University's Clinical and Respiratory Allergy Training Program (France) for Vietnamese doctors, who has made many outstanding achievements in research and training in the field of Pediatrics in Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country; Mr. Nguyen Van Thinh (oversea Vietnamese in Canada), Head of Environmental Engineering Laboratory, Institute for Computational Science and Technology under Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, who  has had outstanding achievements in research and training in Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Vo Hong Duc (Vietnamese residing in Australia), Head of Business and Economic Research Group of Ho Chi Minh City Open University; Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Tuong Thuy (Vietnamese settled in Malaysia), Vice Rector of Hoa Sen University Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Nguyen Duc Thai (overseas Vietnamese in the United States), Lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thien Tong (overseas Vietnamese in the United States), former Head of the Department of Aviation Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology; Dr. Nguyen Dinh Uyen, Lecturer in Electronics and Telecommunications Department of International University of Ho Chi Minh City National University; Dr. Do Tan Si (overseas Vietnamese in Belgium), who has had an excellent achievements of teaching, researching and training in Ho Chi Minh City.

Additionally, five expatriates and individuals who have well done the work of mobilizing overseas Vietnamese to be honored as Mr. Peter Hong (Vietnamese living in Australia), Vice Chairman cum General Secretary of Business Association of Overseas Vietnamese; Mr. Danny Vo Thanh Dang (Vietnamese residing in Singapore), founder and inspirational speaker of Intercham, Vice Chairman of Business Association of Overseas Vietnamese; Mr. Nguyen Kien Hien, Head of the Contact Board of Vietnamese overseas in district 3; Mr. Nguyen Trong Phuc, a member of the Contact Board of overseas Vietnamese in district 5; Mr. Lu Chan Loi, a member of Contact Board of Vietnamese overseas in district 5.
