Additional VND55 bil raised for poor children

Nearly VND55 billion (US$ 2,572,798) was contributed to the musical program “ Mua xuan cho em” ( Spring for children) held by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and Vietnam Children Supporting Fund live broadcast on  Vietnam Television on January 24.

With the aim to bring happy Lunar New Year to disadvantaged children across the country, the program had been launched and a musical performance will be broadcast on Vietnam Television tonight.

In addition to giving gifts to needy children, the program organizer will honor kind hearts to unlucky children in the musical program in Cultural Houses in Ba Dinh district with the participation of famous singers and bands.

The fund for supporting children expects to receive more donations through sending text messages to switchboards 1409 from January 24, 2015 to March 23, 2015.

Each message costs VND18,000 (US$0.8). last year, the fund has supported 86,322 disadvantaged children across the country

Organized by Phu My Hung Corporation and people’s committees of district 7, 8, Nha Be and Binh Chanh, the charity walk aims to raise donation for poor households in these districts. In 2014, the organizers have collected over VND3 billion (US$140,334) for building and repairing charity houses, providing capital for poor residents’ business, giving scholarships named Nguyen Huu Tho and buying vehicles for students to schools.

A part of the fund will be sent to the Ho Chi Minh City Television’s Golden Heart Fund and the fund to support city's young talented athletes.
