Charitable kitchen to provide free meals for poor people

The Red Cross Society in Ho Chi Minh City and Korean Dail Social Welfare Foundation yesterday opened charitable kitchen to provide free meals for low-income households in Tan Hung Ward, District 7.

The 115 square meter kitchen will cook 100 lunches each worth VND20,000 (US$0.9) from Tuesday to Saturday weekly. In addition, teenagers in Districts 7 who want to learn a career will be taught to make bread at the kitchen. Total investment of nearly VND700 million mainly sponsored by Dail Social Welfare Foundation.

Deputy head of the city Red Cross Society Tran Van Tuan said that the kitchen is an emphasis to prove the Red Cross Society’s taking care of poor households in the ward and its neighboring wards adding that the kitchen is meaningful and humane.

On the occasion of operation of the charitable kitchen, the Red Cross Society gave five bicycles to students from disadvantaged families in the ward.
