City and Dong Thap Province to cooperate in trade, investments

A conference on trade and investment cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap was held in Dong Thap Province on August 6.

More than 100 enterprises and representatives of departments of HCMC and Dong Thap Province attended the event.

Nguyen Thi Hong, Deputy Chairwoman of People’s Committee,
said cooperation projects signed between the two sides during 2011-2012 will now be implemented effectively.

To date, 28 enterprises of Ho Chi Minh City have invested in various fields such as food items, aqua products, leather shoes and convenient stores in Dong Thap Province.

The province has also provided fruits, vegetables and traditional foods to supermarket chains in Ho Chi Minh City, such as Co.opMart, Big C and MaxiMark.

The local authorities of both sides will create good conditions for enterprises to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment.

On the occasion, six companies of Ho Chi Minh City signed Memorandum of Understanding with 15 businesses of Dong Thap Province, to provide and distribute traditional specialties, fruits and vegetables.
