City comes together to aid children

HCM City’s businesses community and local authorities are coming together to improve the lives of children in preparation for the upcoming International Children’s Day.

Dam Sen Water Park, District 11, on May 29 opened a summer camp “Vui he voi moi truong xanh” (Enjoy summer in a green environment), which lasts until August 10.
 
A program for 100,000 education scholarships to be given to poor children was announced at the opening ceremony.
 
From June 1 to August 10, about 30,000 children from poor backgrounds will receive free diagnose, treatment, medicines and textbooks.
 
On the same day, at the Hoa Binh Village, Thua Thien-Hue Province’s Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs joined hands with Vinamilk to provide six million glasses of milk to poor children. 
 
More than 700 children will receive free milk for the next two months.
 
Another milk company, Abbott S.A., gave some of their Similac Neosure products to babies who are receiving treatment at Hue’s Central Hospital and HCMC’s University Medical Center.
 
ORBIS International, an NGO working to eliminate avoidable blindness in developing countries, announced that they will sponsor some activities for children, including eye examinations for 100,000 children and carrying out 1,000 free eye operations.
