City hands out VND200 billion for Tet

Nearly VND200 billion ($11 million) was paid out to bring Tet to 467,000 poor people in the city, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee said at a meeting held February 6.

The city had ensured law and order, as well as goods supplied during the Tet holidays. There were no signs of speculation or sudden changes in prices. Food safety was also ensured, the Committee said.

The Committee gave an interest-free loan of VND409 billion to nine major businesses for six months to help them build financial reserves.
