City hosts New Year meeting to greet foreign representative offices

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee held a meeting to greet foreign representative offices on Tet holidays on February 10.

Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan, permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Vo Van Thuong, city’s leaders and 200 delegates of foreign representative offices; consulates; economic, cultural and trade offices; international organizations; non-governmental organizations; foreign business associations in Ho Chi Minh City attended the event.

At the meeting, Chairman Le Hoang Quan offered Tet greetings and thanked to foreign representative offices, consulates, international organizations, businesses and international friends for their outstanding contribution in the development of the city. He also emphasized that international relations and cooperation between the city and foreign organizations are more diversified, effective, wider and deeper.

He said that HCM City’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth in 2014 reached 9.6 percent. The city saw an export turnover of US$32 billion and import turnover of US$30.7 billion.

HCM City attracted 595 investment projects worth US$3.2 billion and has currently 5,331 projects which are now in effect with a total capital of US$36.6 billion.

The chairman committed the local authorities will improve administrative procedures and creat advantages for investors.

On behalf of delegates, Australian Consul-General John James McAnulty also greeted the city’s leaders and people on the lunar New Year. He highly appreciated HCM City’s achivements and thanked the local authorities’ support to foreign affairs offices in the city.
