Ho Chi Minh City must be a national leader in energy savings. This is a long-term strategy to facilitate the city’s sustainable development, said Mr. Le Thanh Hai, party chief of the city.
Mr. Hai made the statement during his visit to the HCMC Power Company Wednesday to oversee the company’s implementation of 2008 duties and party activities.
He praised the company for its contributions to the city’s social and economic development and for its achievements in power-saving.
However, he said, the company can save more power by exploiting the potential and brainpower of its staff.
Mr. Hai asked the People Committee and the company to conceive together a big project on saving power by using cutting-edge technique solutions.
He emphasized that the power company should give priority to the production sector.
The Committee was assigned to study and issue regulations on under-ground systems of power, water, telephone and optical fiber cables in the city so that tangled electric wires and telephone cables will not hang over the road like now, affecting the city’s beauty and people’s safety.
