Mr. Tin chaired the meeting yesterday with relevant departments to analyze the present traffic problems in the city. The Department of Transport was of the view that despite many plans and measures undertaken, traffic conditions had worsened in Ho Chi Minh City. The numbers of traffic accidents are still on the rise with more reported fatalities.

Mr. Tin instructed the transport department to concentrate on construction of roads across the city center and for linking satellite urban areas to ease traffic congestion.

He asked heads of relevant departments and districts to speed up concrete plans to reduce traffic jams by latest September 19. They should set up a steering committee by that time to tackle with great urgency the present traffic congestion in the City.
