Computers for Farmers to Enter Worldwide Marketplaces

The Ho Chi Minh City Farmer Union is teaming up with the HCMC Department of Posts and Telematics to launch a program which will provide farmers in 13 districts with 150 personal computers to allow them online access to current information regarding local and foreign agricultural markets.

This will enable them to make sound, information-based decisions on breeding stocks and plants as well as search for new markets and exchange information with other users.

21 of the 150 computers were delivered today to farmers in six wards.

The next allotment is scheduled to take place in mid-2007. The program costs about US$1 million.
