Cuba seeks to emulate Ho Chi Minh City economic experience

On October 12, Nguyen Van Dua, Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, received a high-level delegation from the Communist Party of Cuba led by Mr. Marino Murllo Jorge, Politburo Member, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Member of the State Council, and Chairman of the implementation Committee on Resolution of the 6th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party on their visit to Vietnam.

 

HCMC Vice Chairman Hua Ngoc Thuan and representatives of various departments of HCMC also attended the high-level meeting.

 

Mr. Nguyen Van Dua provided information of the outstanding achievements of Ho Chi Minh City in the reform process to the Cuban delegation.

Ever since Vietnam entered a period of implementing the model of market-oriented economic socialist economy, Ho Chi Minh City-the largest city in the country-has achieved outstanding results and achievements, and become a source of major contribution to the national budget.

 

On his part, Vice President of Cuba Marino Murillo Jorge said that Cuba wants to learn from Ho Chi Minh City’s experience and   approach to the economic renewal process.

 

In a meeting yesterday with Mr. Dua, the senior Cuban official said his delegation was interested in the city’s experience in building economic models, especially relating to single member limited liability companies.

 

He also expressed his wish to learn from the city’s expertise in accelerating State-owned enterprises into public limited companies.

 

Mr. Dua congratulated Cuba on the success of the 6th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, expressing his belief that the Cuban Party and people would successfully implement the Congress’ resolutions.

 

During their stay, the Cuban delegation visited several successful business houses in Ho Chi Minh City.
