Demonstration in HCMC against violence on women, girls

More than 500 members of the Women's Union of Ho Chi Minh City and the Farmers Association on December 7 participated in a demonstration at Dam Sen Park in District 11 as part of a nationwide campaign against domestic violence against women and young girls.

The demonstration was organized by the Vietnam Women’s Union, Vietnam Farmers Association and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, Chairwoman of Vietnam Women's Union, said she is dead set against violence on women and young girls because it leads not only to emotional humiliation but also economic loss, social disorder and family turmoil.

Accordingly, society should actively fight against violence on women and encourage men to restrain abuse of women.

On this occasion, Women’s Union and Farmers Association pledged to work together to fight against violence on women and young girls.
