Economic stability leads to employment surge

The Center for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labor Market Information (FALMI) in Ho Chi Minh City under the municipal Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said that the employment market grows well thanks to the city’s stable economic growth.

In the middle of June, some 14,100 enterprises in the city excluding foreign-invested ones registered to establish, an increase of 26 percent compared to the same period last year meanwhile the number of enterprise stopping operation decreased by 32 percent.

The city authority continued to have special policies to support small, medium enterprises to access capital sources and advanced technologies as well as start-up companies and call for investment and encourage young people to create employment for themselves.

According to the Department, the city’s stable economy growth has triggered more employment rate of 2.5 percent and from now, the city will have additional 135,000 employment.

It is scheduled that by the last six months of the year, around 35,000 part-time jobs will be needed, a soar of by 20 percent compared to the same period last year. In the summer vacation and the National holiday, enterprises and small and medium companies will recruit more 15,000 part-time positions.

Most vacancies are available across the fields of information technology (IT), electro-mechanics, architecture-construction engineering, industrial electricity, garments-leather shoes, tourism-restaurant-hotel, and housework marchants.

Most enterprises create good working condition so that students who are in need of part-time jobs during summer vacation can do in addition, helping senior high school students to choose suitable jobs for their future career, the Department supplied the demand for employment and some outstanding occupation.

FALMI Deputy Director Tran Anh Tuan said that textile and leather sector is in need of recruiting many employees. Its demand doubled compared to the same period last year. the sector needs skilled workers for some positions as well as trained students from vocational schools.

One of the city’s major occupations is automation which has seen an increase of personnel with a surge of 66 percent while sale sector also saw a soar of personnel with 22 percent.  Over half of people in the sale sector have salary from VND5-8 million a month.

It has seen a leap in employment in IT sector, and this is a good opportunity for newly-graduated students who need to accumulate experience and real knowledge in a competitive working environment.
