Fatherland Front raises $568,000 for Truong Sa

The Ho Chi Minh City office of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has so far received donations of nearly VND12 billion (US$568,000) to the ‘For beloved Truong Sa’ program.

On May 22 Nguyen Hoang Nang, member of the city Party Committee, handed over to the committee VND1.2 billion raised by trade union officials for the Coast Guard, fisheries surveillance forces, and fishermen.

The city Department of Health’s trade union contributed VND400 million, Co.opMart gave VND300 million, and the HCMC War Veterans Association donated VND70 million.

The program was launched a week ago and will go on until the end of this month.
