Finland to invest in education, DMT

Finnish businesses yesterday said that they wanted to invest in education and digital media technology (DMT) in Vietnam at a conference hosted to promote Vietnam-Finland trade and investment in Ho Chi Minh City.
 
Vietnam-Finland trade turnover topped US$215.6 million in the first eight months this year. Of these, Vietnam’s exports to Finland approximated US$78 million and imports exceeded US$137 million.
 
Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam Ilkka-Pekka Similä said that the nearly completed Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement would create many new opportunities for the two sides to boost bilateral and multilateral cooperation relations.
 
Vietnam is the sole Asian nation listed in Finland’s educational financing and exchange program that will cover students and lecturers from university, Master and doctor degrees.
 
Finland will provide Vietnam with US$3 billion non-refundable aid to build a creative reform program in technology field.
