Free Buses for the Disabled

Buses travelling is encouraged in HCMC

The disabled in Ho Chi Minh City can enjoy bus rides free of charge. Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Van Dua has asked the Department of HCMC Transport and Public Affairs to complete all procedures for this regulation to be carried out before April 30, 2006.

The department will work with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and HCMC Sponsorship Association for the Disabled and Orphans (SADO) to distribute free bus cards.

It will also instruct bus transport businesses, drivers and ticket collectors to conduct the rule, and consider whether the disabled from other localities going by buses in Ho Chi Minh City without cards can be exempt.

Currently, there are 37,680 disabled people in Ho Chi Minh City, according to SADO.
