HCM City Takes Christmas Occasion to Pledge Religious Freedom

Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Vice-Chairwoman Vo Thi Dung has assured Catholics and Protestants of the mass organisation's continued efforts in working with local authorities to create food conditions for practices of religion.

Ms.Dung made the pledges at a get-together with Christian clerics on Dec. 19 to say Merry Christmas day.

She also appreciated Christian clerics and believers' practical contributions to the city's development, especially in retaining its economic growth rates as the highest in the nation for many years in a row.

In return, Father Huynh Cong Minh, General Representative of the HCM City Diocese, expressed thanks to the municipal Fatherland Front for holding the meeting. He described the efforts as the city's thoughtfulness to the religious practice and spiritual life of followers.

He also recognised efforts made by the city's Fatherland Front and administration to create favourable conditions for Catholics and religious followers as a whole to lead a religious life in line with the God's teaching, namely to live Gospel amid the nation
