HCMC and US strengthen multifaceted cooperation ties

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan yesterday received Mr. Michael Michalak, former US Ambassador to Vietnam cum Senior Vice President of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC).

At the receipt, the city leader expressed his pleasure at the great and active contributions by the Ambassador into the United States-Vietnam relationship during his working term. 

He appreciated multifaceted cooperation relations between the two countries including Ho Chi Minh City. He strongly affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City always welcome US enterprises to learn about the market and discuss long- term cooperation on adopting smart urban project.

Additionally, the city has also planned to set up the Center for Highly Interactive Innovation in district 2, 9 and Thu Duc. Therefore, Secretary Nhan hoped that Mr. Michael Michalak would continue monitoring and calling on more businesses and investors in Ho Chi Minh City. 

Both leaders also took pleasure in educational cooperation between the two nations. 

Vietnam has sent 30,000 students to the US, ranking the first in Southeast Asia and fifth among worldwide countries. 

Mr. Michael Michalak appreciated the assistance of the city’s leaders about putting Fullbright University into operation, a new step in educational cooperation between the two countries.
