The 18th meeting of the 8th session of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council was opened this morning and scheduled to end on July 31 with the most interesting matter being road maintenance fee on motorbikes, which many council members and residents have proposed to abolish.

The council’s chairwoman Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam told Sai Gon Giai Phong at the opening session that many issues related to the fee collection would be discussed at the session.
If voters and council members found the fee collection too difficult, the People’s Council would ask the city People’s Committee to send the Government a report in writing on this issue.
Most residents and the chairwoman had disagreed with fee collection because it was inconvincible, unreasonable, unfair, ineffective and unfeasible.
