HCMC develops beef cattle to meet rising demand

Ho Chi Minh City planned to develop raising of beef cattle as per the decision No.232/QD-UBND of People’s Committee so as to improve high-quality cattle, provide employment to labors in rural districts and raise breeders’ income.

At present, the local supply can’t meet the rising demand so city leaders decided to prompt the program of developing beef cattle, stablizing cattle breeding.
Through carrying out model of feeding Red Angus and Blanc-Blue-Belgium (BBB) beef cattle in Ho Chi Minh City’s Cu Chi district designed by the Agricultural Extension Center , initial results are good with average weight gain of 800 gram a cattle a day.
Cattle feeders in HCMC prefer Sind cattle weighing 280 kilogram up or HF cow to mate with BBB, Red Angus, Droughmaster, and Brahman to improve its health, meat.
