At the meeting, the city Party chief believed that the new ambassador would continue to develop further the multifaceted cooperation ties between Canada and Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City.
On the occasion, Secretary Nhan called for Canadian investors into the city’s key projects such as creativity startups center and smart district, traffic infrastructure development, environment, etc.
Besides that, he also called for improving English language teaching to teachers at all levels, and strengthening educational exchange programs between the two countries’ students.
The Canadian ambassador expressed her impression to the fast growth of Ho Chi Minh City since her latest visit in 1997.
She said that the building of smart district was considered as a favorable cooperation opportunity with the partner.
Energy and education are also two fields receiving more attentions of Canadian enterprises, she said.
In the environmental sector, both sides need to pay priority about initiatives reducing plastic garbage and raising public awareness about this garbage, she added.
