HCMC Market Management Department seizes smuggled goods

The Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department has seized and penalized several persons in the city within the last few days, for storing and selling smuggled goods.

The Cu Chi Market Management Team seized 46 wine bottles of Chivas Regal, Ballantine and Dewar brand labels, which were being transported into the city by motorbikes and buses and stored at bus stations temporarily.

The Binh Thanh Market Management Team seized 30 mobile phones while the Market Management Team No.5B impounded 1,180 gemstone bracelets with ‘Made-in-China’ labels.

All the above Market Management Teams reported a total of 14 cases of smuggled goods without price labels, 2 cases of wrong pricing and one case of using foreign currency as price unit.

The Market Management Team No.3A confiscated 380 moon cakes and snow skin moon cakes from District 8 that had no proper quality marking. The total penalty fine amount came to VND695 million (approx. US$33,700).
